Austin Holland
I started working on my PhD in the fall of 2006. Before that I worked at the INL in the seismic monitoring program. I came back to school cause I have a real passion for teaching at the collegiate level. I have a great deal of research interests and have provided just a short list below.
- Seismology
- Tectonics
- Geodynamics
- Computer Programming and Modeling
- Embedded Computing

Research
CHIL
I helped install continuous GPS stations in Iceland in the summer of 2007 and 2008 as part of the UofA CHIL CGPS project. It was a great challenge and a lot of fun.
The picture to the right is of CGPS station Kidagil which is located in the central highlands of Iceland.

CGPS Time Series Analysis
I am working on a method to fit a smooth spline through GPS time series which will provide an elegant method to examine time dependent deformation.
